"Tinkerbell" is my first car. While I am not old enough to drive, I rescued Tink from a construction worker that was not treating her well in the hopes of having a nice car when I turn 16. Tink has T-Tops, which I love. Since the insurance man wouldn't let me get a real motor, Tink has a 3.4L V6 which I have done a lot of work on. The engine had a NASTY cooling system, a cracked head, and bad LIM gaskets. The exhaust was also completely shot. I rebuilt the top end (with a little help from Mom and Dad), completely flushed and cleaned the cooling system, replaced the heads, and added headers and a new exhaust. I cleaned and painted everything I could while Tink was apart. It has been fun working on her, and now she runs nice.
I rebuilt the entire brakes system with all new parts, and hope to upgrade some of the suspension when I am allowed to get a job. Getting the disks off the front when they have rusted is not easy. I have been working on the interior, and have spent many afternoons in junkyards getting little things here and there. My Dad replaced the airbag, but I have done most of the interior work with my Mom who has more patience for working in the car. Tink has new power mirrors, and we cleaned up the power window tracks and now they work great! Taking the doors apart is a bit scary at first, but it is really not that hard. I really want to add seat warmers, but they are expensive.
Tink is mostly green, but the paint isn't in good shape, and there are dings and scratches all over. I got a bra for her to hide the nose, but the hood is very warped and dinged. We have a good hood and the driver fender for it, but the new hood is blue and the new fender is white so I don't want to put them on until Dad agrees to pay for a paintjob.
